The Department of Ophthalmology at Baylor College of Medicine seeks a qualified, highly motivated, and creative Postdoctoral Fellow to join the de Paiva’s lab. Dr. Cintia de Paiva\'s research focuses on understanding the anti-inflammatory properties of calorie restriction on the ocular surface and lacrimal gland. The Postdoctoral Fellow will work closely with the PI and other lab personnel performing complex research and research techniques. Duties may include but are not limited to designing and conducting experiments in a controlled laboratory setting. Duties may include performing experiments, collecting, analyzing, and reporting data; designing immunohistochemistry with proper controls and proper detection of colorimetric reactions (HRP, alkaline phosphatase, streptavidin, etc.); designing and performing flow cytometry with fluorescence minus controls, positive and negative controls in cervical lymph nodes, collagenase-digested lacrimal glands, and spleens; designs and perform intracellular staining for interferon-gamma, IL-17, and TNF; analyze data using FlowJo software; work with animals, including genotyping, husbandry and inducing dry eye protocol; administer oral gavage, ocular topical eye drops, and subconjunctival injections as needed; design and perform real-time PCR Taqman Probes; analyze data using the delta-delta CT method. The Postdoctoral Associate is responsible for maintaining oversight and ensuring that laboratory equipment and supplies are clean and sterile, maintains the laboratory\'s cleanliness, and orders laboratory supplies and equipment.
