Summary

Dr. Joshua Riback of Baylor College of Medicine (BCM) is seeking a postdoctoral associate to lead fundamental new directions in his laboratory at Baylor College of Medicine, Department of Molecular and Cellular Biology. Dr. Riback’s lab focuses on the cell biology of RNA protein assembly (e.g., ribosome biogenesis) and physics of biological condensates using quantitative microscopy. The candidate will develop computational approaches that explore the underlying principles of biological condensates aiming to connect biophysical properties to cellular function. The candidate will have ample opportunities to interface with experimentalists in the Riback lab.

Job Duties

  • Designs, leads, and disseminates cutting-edge high-impact research with consultation of faculty.
  • Leads the development of theoretical, modeling, and simulation approaches along with computational methods for microscopy acquisition and data analysis.
  • Interfaces and collaborates with experimentalists in the lab.
  • Mentors and assists in research projects including project design along with computational aspects of data collection and analysis.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • MD or Ph.D. in Basic Science, Health Science, or a related field.
  • No experience required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Ph.D. in Quantitative sciences, Biophysics, or a related field.
  • Strong coding skills and background. Proficient or open to learning Java and Python.
