The Applied Material Division (AMD) of Advanced Energy Technologies (AET) Directorate at Argonne National Laboratory is seeking to hire a postdoctoral appointee to conduct process optimization and separation material R&D of electrochemical separation technologies to enable waste to energy and industrial decarbonization.
The candidate is expected to conduct bench-scale process optimization and assist pilot-scale field demonstration of electrochemical membrane separation technologies applied on organic acid recovery, waste nutrient recovery and CO2 capture from waste in collaboration of the industrial partners in fuel and chemical production, CO2 management and organic waste and wastewater treatment. Performing material research and process modeling maybe needed to improve separation performance in real world environments. It will involve the selection/characterization/or fabrication of separation material. Work is expected to include interaction with and coordination of this research with the other members of the Section to develop innovative chemical and bioprocessing technologies. The primary project focus will be to enhance energy efficiency and economics of membrane separations.
