We invite interested candidates to apply for a Postdoctoral Appointee position on scale-up science for emerging technologies, with a primary focus on techno-economic, manufacturing and market-adoption analysis for electrochemical technologies such as CO2 conversion to value added chemicals. The successful candidate will join the Center for Energy, Environmental and Economic Systems Analysis (CEEESA) within the Energy Systems and Infrastructure Analysis (ESIA) Division at Argonne.

In this role, the candidate will lead the development of public-facing software for techno-economic analysis (TEA) and scale-up of emerging electrochemical technologies, such as electrochemical energy storage and CO2 electrolyzer systems. Responsibilities include collecting, organizing, and maintaining a comprehensive technology data library, and modeling technology scale-up and adoption using supply chain and market information, along with expert knowledge and systematic statistical methods. The candidate will also lead integrated process modeling, develop models for predicting technology learning rates and commercialization timelines, and contribute to technology design and optimization. Additionally, the candidate will prepare reports, presentations, and manuscripts to effectively communicate project progress and outcomes.

The candidate must demonstrate the ability for convergent thinking and will receive a supportive and enabling environment to develop research projects, grow research collaborations, communicate impactful research outcomes in peer-reviewed journals, and support other related projects within the team’s portfolio. Experience or familiarity with life cycle analysis is a plus, but not required.
