Summary

Dr. Zhao's Lab at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, TX, is recruiting for postdoctoral researcher positions. The lab focuses on studying the neurobiology of interoception, which involves understanding how our body senses and processes internal cues. Researchers will employ a variety of advanced tools from neuroscience, immunology, genetics, and physiology to explore these processes. Ideal candidates will have backgrounds in neuroscience, immunology, bioinformatics, or related fields and are expected to contribute to and benefit from collaborative research efforts.

Job Duties

  • Designs, executes, and analyzes complex experiments related to interoception, utilizing techniques such as AAV-based viral tracing, whole-mount tissue clearing, and single-cell transcriptomics. They will also be involved in integrating multi-omics data for bioinformatics positions.
  • Analyzes experimental data using advanced statistical methods and bioinformatics tools. They will interpret results in the context of existing literature and prepare findings for publication in top-tier journals.
  • Mentors junior lab members, manages day-to-day lab operations, and collaborates closely with team members across different disciplines to drive the lab's research objectives forward.
  • Conductsand overseeshigh-stakes experiments with a focus on neurobiology and immunology.
  • Collaborateson interdisciplinary projects that combines expertise in neuroscience, bioinformatics, and computational science.
  • Preparesand submitsgrant proposals to secure additional funding for lab research.

Minimum Qualifications

  • MD or Ph.D. in Basic Science, Health Science, or a related field.
  • No experience required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Ph.D. in neuroscience, immunology, bioinformatics, or related fields.
  • Experience with advanced experimental techniques in neuroscience, immunology, bioinformatics, or related fields.
  • Strong publication record in peer-reviewed journals, demonstrating a solid research background.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with a strong motivation for scientific discovery.
  • Candidates should have a strong commitment to scientific excellence and be willing to engage in a collaborative and interdisciplinary environment.
